Asset Based Network Marketing – The Next Generation Approach

Everyone knows that the network marketing business has changed over the years. There is more skepticism in the market, new viable leads are getting harder and harder to get and that promised residual income for life seems farther and farther away. There are more opportunities out there vying for the attention of our leads and prospects. And all those new opportunities are being marketed harder and harder by the competition.

To succeed today in network marketing we need to use many of the tools that traditional internet marketers have been using for a long time. And, we have to build something of value that will last. We have to build an asset. We have to build an asset that will grow in value and generate the residual income that was the reason we got into network marketing in the first place.  We have to use asset based network marketing.

What is asset based network marketing?  Well let’s think about this. In most network marketing organizations the emphasis is absolutely on building a downline of marketers or distributers who will in turn build their own downline while we earn override commissions from product sales from this army of distributors we have sponsored. But in the end what do we really own in this arrangement. We don’t own the list of downline distributors or affiliates - the network marketing company owns that. In fact with most network marketing companies there can be many restrictions on the activities that you can engage in with your downline aside from helping them learn to use the marketing tools provided by the company and answering questions about the opportunity they may have. In the end the network marketing company owns everything – the lists of distributors, marketing tools, replicated websites, the product it sells etc. They own the assets not us.

With asset based network marketing, we develop and own an asset ourselves. That asset is a list of prospects that we develop. We build a relationship with that list and we market to that list products and service that they might be interested in to help start or build their own businesses - including the primary network marketing business opportunity we are promoting. Now we own an asset. We own an asset that can provide multiple streams of income for a long time.

The tools and techniques used in asset based network marketing are not new. In fact they are pretty basic tools used every day by internet markets and affiliate marketers. I’ve used them in my other internet marketing businesses for many years. Unfortunately they have not been used very much or very effectively by network marketers. This is the case because when someone joins a network marketing organization they do so because first they like the product that the company is selling but also if they have done their due diligence (and hopefully they have) they are impressed with all the support and marketing tools that are available to make them successful. Don’t get me wrong! These tools are absolutely essential. Don’t ever join an organization that doesn’t have a good product (hopefully many good products) and outstanding support and marketing tools. But think about it – these are assets that they own. You can use them, but in the end they own them and if the company goes away, they go away and you get to start over.

Now with asset based network marketing any business can still dry up. But now you own the most valuable asset any internet marketer can have - your list. If a business opportunity you are promoting dose dry up, you can find another and because you have built a strong relationship with your list you can take them with you by marketing the new opportunity to them.

What we have done with asset based network marketing is build a business asset outside of and in addition to any business opportunity or product we choose to promote. It will add a sense of stability and durability to your business. It will be a strong foundation for building long term residual income for you and your family.
